|Duties:||Assist with scheduling hospital appointments and admitting and discharging patients. Assist veterinarians with patient procedures. Monitor sick and/or hospitalized pets and communicate findings with case doctor. Maintain accurate medical records on hospitalized patients. Administer prescribed medications (including IV, IM, SQ, PO) and treatments to hospitalized patients. Radiograph patients, develop x-ray film and ensure that radiographs are of a diagnostic quality. Circulate and assist in surgery as needed. Ensure that all hospital areas are properly cleaned, maintained, well stocked and in compliance with Center standards during work shift. Supervise assistant medical technicians during work shift. Ensure that all hospital and Center safety procedures are followed at all times. Follow safety and sanitation policies throughout facility in order to maintain HWAC standards of excellence. Maintain compliance with HWAC policies and procedures. Participate in Center activities and events as required. Complete other assignments as required. Represent HWAC standards of professionalism.|
|Qualifications:||Must have a current California RVT license. Must possess the knowledge required of a registered veterinary technician with regards to radiography, surgery, laboratory and medicine as it pertains to the field of small animal and exotic veterinary medicine. Must be able to properly operate an x-ray machine, develop radiographs, and determine that radiographs are of a diagnostic quality. Must possess knowledge of small animal and exotic pet species husbandry and restraint. Must be able to work both independently and with a team. Must be able to work in a continuously changing, multiple doctor hospital environment. Must be able to follow written and verbal doctor orders without direct supervision. Must be able to safely lift objects weighing up to 55 lbs. Must be able to safely lift objects weighing up to 100 lbs. with assistance.|
